

The “Associació d’Arxivers de Catalunya” (Archivists Association of Catalonia) was founded in 1985 with the objective of advancing the profession of archivist, defending the individual and collective interests of archivists, and promoting and developing this professional area.
The Archivists Association of Catalonia now has over 700 members, classified in three categories: full members, associate members and institutional members:
| Full members | Members who work as archivists. |
| Associate members | Individuals linked to or interested in the field of archives. |
| Institutional members | Corporations interested in supporting the functions of the Association and advancing its activities. |
Ultimate power of decision in the Association is held by the General Assembly of members, which meets at least once yearly.
The Board of the Association is the executive body of the Archivists Association of Catalonia. It is elected democratically from among the full members standing as candidates for a term of four years. The Board has eleven members.
Committees are created by the Board of the Association to carry out specific functions to support and supplement the Board’s tasks.
Work groups are formed by the Board of the Association at the initiative of full members. The objective of these groups is to create a space within the Association for archivists with common interests to meet, exchange opinions, debate specific issues and carry out studies and other activities in connection with archivistics.
