The Association has always placed special emphasis on the advancement of the profession of archivist and the defence of archivists’ professional interests and rights, in addition to promoting activities of a technical nature aimed at enhancing competency and training in the sector.
Among other activities, the Archivists Association of Catalonia has been present on personnel recruitment panels for many institutions and organisations, particularly in connection with competitions for positions as municipal archivists.
The Association offers its members, and also institutions and organisations, a career placement service. This service helps members find employment as archivists or change jobs and at the same time provides institutions and organisations with the opportunity to find the professional best suited to their needs for document management.
Other services offered to members include legal advice and employment advice.
With the aim of advancement and consolidation of archivists as experts in document management, and to contribute to the protection and dissemination of the documentary heritage, the Association establishes agreements for co-operation with other institutions and organisations, both public and private.
