Since its foundation, the Association has carried out many actions and activities in conjunction with different bodies and organisations with the objective of promoting the profession of archivist. Worth noting among the agreements for co-operation owing to their importance are those executed with the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Department of Culture of the Catalan Autonomous Government, the Ministry of Culture and various Town Councils, to mention just a few. The Association has also been a member and collaborated with the NGO Archivists without Frontiers since its creation.
At the international level, the Association is a category B (professional associations) member of the International Council on Archives (ICA) since 1988. A representative of the AAC has sat on the Steering Committee of the Section of Professional Associations of the ICA since 1992 and holds the position of Vice-President for 2000–2004.
